Warings Furniture Sails Away With Regatta Trophy
An amateur crew from leading furniture manufacturer, Warings Furniture, sailed onto the medal board by winning the Sunsail Inter Brewery Regatta at Port Solent last weekend [11 and 12 May].
Team Warings beat off competition from 17 other yachts, including professional crews and skippers, and was first to cross the finishing line in two out of the four races to be crowned Overall Winners.
The Inter Brewery Regatta offers a chance for brewers from around the country to get together once a year to participate in round the cans racing on the Solent. Warings Furniture is eligible to enter the competition as it is a leading supplier of interior and exterior furniture to UK restaurants, bars and hotels.
Graham Waring, director of Warings Furniture and first mate of Team Waring, commented: “This is the first time that we have entered the race and were absolutely delighted with the team’s performance.
“Coming first in two races and second and third in the others against some professional crews was a great accomplishment, but having achieved Overall Winners was just the icing on the cake!”
The team building event takes place over two days of racing took place on 11 and 12 May with crews sailing identically matched Sunsail F40 fleet.
The crew members were: Ian Tims (Helm & Tactician), Anthony Holman (Skipper), Graham Waring (First Mate), Chris Lomax & Graham Waring (Jib and Trimmers), Trevor Cave (Assistant Navigator), Martin Devlin (Bow) and Richard Hall and Jonny White (Cabin/Cook/Crew).
